Uploading the Sitemap File with FTP

A sitemap is useless if Google cannot find it, so Rapid Sitemaps offers this feature so that you can upload your file to your live server. The Notify Google feature will refuse to notify Google of a file that it cant find, so you should always upload your file before notifying Google.

Select File / Upload Sitemap using FTP, click CTRL-U or click the toolbar button with this image to open the Upload File dialog box

Click Add Files to add your sitemap files to the list for upload. If you have already saved your sitemap and URL list files, these files will already appear in the file list. To remove files from the list, select them, and click Remove.

Complete the Server Details section as follows:

FTP Server: Enter the FTP server address. Rapid Sitemaps will try to predict this value, but you should check to see whether it is correct.
Directory: If the root folder for your website is not the same as the root folder for the ftp server (it often isnt) enter the path to your directory here.
Port: If your FTP server uses a port different from the default 21, enter it here. If you dont know what the port value for your FTP server is, leave this value at 21.
Username: Enter the username you use to access your FTP server. If no username is supplied, anonymous access will be attempted.
Password: Enter the password you use to access this FTP server.

When you have completed the form, click Upload to begin the process.
