As mentioned in the introduction, the Google Sitemaps system consists of two parts creating the xml file, and notifying Google of its existence. Most of the Rapid Sitemaps program is designed to create the xml file, but this feature will alert Google to the existence of the file. Select File / Notify Google or click the toolbar
button with this image
For safety sake, you should ensure that you have uploaded the file to your live site before notifying Google about it. You can also sign up for a Google Sitemaps account, and submit your sitemap there. This is a much more complicated procedure, but it will give you information on the status of your sitemap, when it was last checked, etc. You can sign up for a Google Sitemap account here: http://www.google.com/webmasters/sitemaps/ Notifying Yahoo of the location of the URL listIn order to submit your URL list to Yahoo, you need to be signed in to Yahoo!. This prevents Rapid Sitemaps from including an automatic notification feature for Yahoo. You need to visit the following website to submit your URL list: http://submit.search.yahoo.com/free/request/ If you have saved your URL list during this session, the Notify Google dialog box will contain the URL for your URL list, so that you may easily copy-and-paste it into the website form.
