Getting Started

Before we can start adding files to our sitemap, we need to assign it a base URL. Only pages and files from the same folder as the sitemap, or its subfolders, are allowed to be listed in a sitemap, so the base URL should be the URL of the folder where you want to save the sitemap. This would normally be the root folder of your website. You can set this value one of two ways:

Create a new sitemap

Select File / New Sitemap from the menu, click CTRL-N or click the toolbar button with this image to open the New Sitemap dialog box. Enter the URL of your site in the box, or select one from the list. Click OK.

Load an existing sitemap

Select File / Open Sitemap from the menu, click CTRL-O or click the toolbar button with this image to open the Import Sitemap dialog box.

If you want to import a sitemap from a live URL:

  • Select the Import From URL option.
  • Enter the URL into the box, or select one from the list.

If you want to import a sitemap from your harddrive:

  • Select the Import From File option
  • Select the file by clicking on the folder button

Select whether your file is an XML sitemap file, or a simple URL list, and click Import.

Once all the files have been imported from the sitemap, select the base URL from the list, and click OK
