Adding and Editing Files


You can manually add and edit files and folders using these functions. Functions will be greyed out or not visible if you cannot perform that function. For example, you can only edit a file if at least one file has been selected. To automatically import files, see the Importing Files section.

Adding a folder

Select Manage / Add New Folder, click the toolbar button with this image , or right click on the selected folder and select Add New Folder. A new folder named New Folder will be added to the folder list. Rename this folder to whatever you choose (see Renaming a Folder).

Editing all the files in a folder

Select Manage / Edit Folder & Subfolders, click the toolbar button with this image , or right click on the selected folder and select Edit all Files in Folder and Subfolders to open the Edit File dialog box. See Editing a File for details of how to edit a file. When you click Update, all the files in the selected folder, and its subfolders, will be assigned your selected attributes.

Renaming a folder

Click on an already selected folder to enable the renaming process. You should be able to rename the folder to whatever you like, then press Enter.

Deleting a folder

Select Manage / Delete Folder & Subfolders, click the toolbar button with this image , or right click on the selected folder and select Delete Folder and Subfolders. This will delete the current folder and all subfolders, as well as all files in those folders. You will be asked to confirm your selection.

Adding a file

Select Manage / Add New File, click the toolbar button with this image , or right click in the file view window and select Add New File. A new file named New_File.htm will be added to the current folder. Rename this file to whatever you choose (see Renaming a Folder). The new file is assigned default attributes (See Editing a File for more information).

Editing a file

Select Manage / Edit Selected Files, click the toolbar button with this image , or right click on one of the selected files and select Edit Selected Files. This will open the Edit Details Dialog box. There are three sections that correspond to the three optional attributes of a file: Priority, Change Frequency and Last Updated Date (For more information see Sitemap Attributes). To change an attribute, make sure that the checkbox is checked, and select the appropriate values. To remove a Last Updated Date, make sure the Update Date Checkbox is checked, but uncheck the Checkbox inside the date itself.

Copying and pasting file attributes

You can copy the attributes of one file, and apply them to other files using copy and paste. To copy Attributes, right click on a file, and select Copy Attributes or click CTRL-C. To paste attributes to selected files, right click on one of the selected files, and select Paste Attributes, or click CTRL-V. This will not change the names of the files; nor will it copy files and paste them into new folders.

Renaming a file

Click on an already selected file, or right click on a file and select Rename File to enable the renaming phase. You should be able to rename the file to whatever you like, then press Enter.

Select Manage / Delete Selected Files, click the toolbar button with this image , or right click on one of the selected files and select Delete Selected Files. This will delete all the selected files. You will be asked to confirm your selection.
